I work in the graphics industry, serving mostly packaging customers from the small to very large.
Our main plant is in North Eastern Pennsylvania and we have two other facilities, one in Central
Florida and the other on the West Coast of Florida between Sarasota and Naples. I spent a year at
our Florida companies beginning in September of 1997. This was a great area with a vast growth
potential and I am proud to have been able to serve our company there. Below are links to our
Pennsylvania plant and our main Florida location.
Being involved in this industry since 1972, I started out as a bindery helper and
delivery person. I have seen it grow and change rapidly and am certainly interested in where it is
going regarding the capabilities of the internet. I was involved in letterpress production at the
beginning of my career and have seen it move into computers on both lithographic and
flexographic presses and bindery equipment. Film assembly has been replaced by computer
generated film and digital proofing, skipping over many steps and speeding production times. We
live in a rapidly changing world and I enjoy going to many seminars and courses on our industry.
I am a CPME (Certified Production Management Executive) of the National Association of
Printers and Lithographers. I try to attend all the graphic arts shows and conferences that I can
and am constantly reading literature on our industry, both through conventional ways (books and
related material) and electronically (through the internet).
My family dates back to the first printers in the Wyoming Valley and three Llewellyns are still involved in it. Myself, my father through Llewellyn's Graphics Plus and my uncle through Great Nothern Press and Llewellyn Brothers, Inc. My grandfather was the founding member of Llewellyn Brothers, Inc and my great uncle was the founding member of Llewellyn & McKane, Inc. I was one of the two founding members of Bokar and Llewellyn, Inc. Obviously there is a long standing interest in the printing business in my family.
